TANTŌ JIUJITSU is proud to be directly under one of the pioneers of the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and one of its greatest champions, Master Jean Jacques Machado.

Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Master Machado began his Jiu-Jitsu training more than forty years ago. He dominated the competitive arena of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in his native country, capturing every major title and competition award from 1982 through 1992.

In 1992, he arrived in the United States to continue his competitive success. Dominating the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu scene both in the United States and in international competition, Master Machado gained worldwide recognition in 1999 with his performance at the Abu Dhabi Combat Club World Submission Wrestling Championships. Today, Master Jean Jacques Machado is one of the very few 7th degree Coral Belts who continues to actively teach full time.

Professor Alfred is the owner and lead instructor at TANTŌ JIUJITSU. Alfred started his jiujitsu journey in 1999 and has trained directly under Master Jean Jacques Machado for over 20 years. He is currently a Third Degree Blackbelt.

Coach Sasha (Kids Class)

Coach Sasha started training jiujitsu under Master Jean Jacques Machado in 2019 and helps with the kids classes and women’s self defense class. Sasha is also a Registered Dietitian and offers nutrition consultations for both children and adults, providing a well rounded health and wellness program to the students of TANTŌ JIUJITSU. Sasha currently holds the ranking of Blue Belt.
